Dock Worker - Part Time at our Auburn Terminal

Dock Workers are responsible for the movement of freight throughout the terminal by loading and/ or unloading shipments. They are responsible for manifesting freight, staging freight and moving to and from trailers, docks and staging areas. All while meeting on time requirements for our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Competent operation of material handling equipment.
  • Responsible for noting and recording exceptions in count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims.
  • Management of paperwork: i.e. check for accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, counting freight, accuracy of hazardous material shipments, special loading and handling instructions.
  • Responsibile for regrouping shipments as needed.
  • Ability to meet the Company's reliability standard for employees.
  • Ability to successfully complete all training programs and pass all administered tests.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
  • H.S. diploma or GED/equivalent.
  • Reading, Mathematics and simple arithmetic, writing, weighing and/or measuring.
  • Must show proof of minimum age 18 to meet OHFL insurance requirements.
  • Experience using tools, machines, and special equipment: hand truck, four-wheel dock cart, pallet jack, forklift, barrel truck, dock plates, load locks, rope preferred.
  • Effective communication skills for taking instructions, communicating with managers and co-workers and following directions.
  • Basic English language proficiency (reading, written and verbal) strongly preferred.
  • Operation of vehicles: Forklift (must be certified once hired). Previous forklift experience preferred.
